This is the story of Aglo. It uses Greek mythology that maybe you would like to seeChiron is a centaur hero that lives in a cave and has high healing abilities: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ChironForeword (1.5k-2.5k):
"Zeus was looking for a way to create more powerful servants and warriors. Apollo gave him the idea of using his hybrid creatures to create a new generation of warriors.
With the blessing of Zeus, Apollo created Mytera and Aglo. The first humanoid griffins. Mytera was excepcionally strong and skilled in combar, while Aglo specialized more in magic and strategy.Mytera wore golden armor prepared for hand-to-hand combat.Aglo wore a sorcerer's armor made of diamond.Apolo teached his creations basic combat skills, so they could be presented to Zeus, but he did not taught all of their abilities and Aglo was not aware of a large chunk of his powers.Apollo presented the creatures to Zeus, starting with Mytera, but Zeus soon regretted it and considered Mytera an aberration. Zeus ordered her execution, which provoked a fight between Zeus and Mithera, in which Mithera was killed. Apollo was devastated, but Aglo, who was silently looking, was terrified.Apollo was still convinced of his project, and helped Aglo to escape Olympus before Zeus discovers that there is another griffin.Apollo left Aglo with the centaur Chiron on Mount Otris in Thessaly.Chapter 1) The centaur Chiron(3k-4k):
Aglo stayed with Chiron for a year. When Apollo gave the griffin to Chiron he gave him basic information about it and told him that it was very important that the gryphon is hidden, but he left out many details, which caused Chiron to have problems understanding the creature he had to care for (What to feed it? Does it sleep? Recharge magic?).
Although Aglo was technically a newborn, his body resembled a 20-year-old human, or a 100-year-old gryphon. Aglo decided to use the gryphon's age, as it was more accurate. Aglo spent a lot of time trying to understand himself, what his abilities were, and his connection to Olympus. The image of Mytera being killed by Zeus never left his mind and he spent a long time practicing the magical abilities that Apollo told him he possessed.Aglo was rarely allowed to leave the cave, but when he did, he tried to test himself. Aglo learned that he has, at least, a few elemental powers when he freezed a bear while running away from it, accidentally. Or when he killed a group of fish with an electrical current on a river, when he was very hungry. However, Aglo is not able to control this powers yet. When Aglo shed his first feathers, he learned that his feathers, when they leave his body, the become iron. This gave him a strong range weapon. He can shake his wings in a direction to throw iron feathers that work like knives.A year after taking in the hybrid, The greek hero Heracles is fighting centaurs too close to the cave and he accidentally shot an arrow poisoned at Chiron with the blood of the Hydra, who were fleeing towards Chiron's abode. He received an arrow that caused a painful, incurable wound that would torment him with pain for the rest of his life, since Chiron is immortal.Aglo lived with the injured Chiron for a few weeks more, a risky move, since he was now the one looking for his own food, since Chiron was in constant agony. At the same time, he was taking care of Chiron.Due to this state of constant pain that cannot be healed, Chiron became unable to continue and left the cave while Aglo was sleeping. He left a golden laurel wreath and letter to the gryphon, basically saying that he was going to transfer his inmortality to a mortal to end his suffering (and die), but only Zeus can do something like that, so, he cannot give Aglo his inmortality.Aglo grabbed the laurel wreath and cried. He couldn't help him. If Zeus sees the gryphon, he's dead. That night,Aglo put the laurel wreath on and saw the Centaurus constelation in the night sky and he knew who it belonged to. (That constellation was created by Zeus, in honor of the Cenatur Chiron. He helped a lot of people.)Chapter 2)Migration(1.5k-2.5k):
Aglo lives alone in Chiron's cave for a day more, until he recives the visit of the god Apollo. Apollo warns Aglo that he needs to hide elsewhere. Aglo, resentful, blames Apollo for forcing him to live a hidden life. He reproaches him for not arguing with Zeus enough before creating him and Mytera. Aglo takes flight and leaves.
Aglo begins a long journey without direction. Rest every few hours for many days. In the end, on one of his breaks, very close to the border of Greece, he finds a dragon (Aglo has never seen a dragoness in his life, he is very surprised) of a color as dark as night, who, surprisingly, can speak. .Aglo talks to the dragon and she reveals that she is from another land. Then, the dragon transforms into a human, revealing that she is a shapeshifter. She then revealed that her name was Stormfly.Aglo and the dragoness talked for quite some time (about their lives, common story, interests... etc. They get along pretty well), making the griffin forget about his migration for a moment. At one point, "Stormfly" asked her where her catalyst was. Aglo was confused. Stormfly explained that griffins, in her land, often carry gems that function as catalysts, in order to control their elements. Those gems were called "Tiger's Eye". Aglo was very interested in it and asked him where those gems were. Stormfly replied that he didn't know it here, but in his land he could find one.Stormfly returned to his dragon form and they both flew across ancient Europe, heading towards the Nordic lands.Chapter 3) Frozen lands (3k - 4k)
Aglo and Tormétula arrived in Scandinavian lands (At this time, they are still independent Viking towns). The town of Stormfly was a prosperous and large one.
Aglo was amazed by simple things like snow, winter clothing, ice, since in Greece, the cold barely exists. The locals, curiously, insisted that Aglo "reveal" his human form. Stormfly explained to the griffin that anthropomorphic beings practically do not exist here, and they are all shapeshifting humans or directly wild creatures. Stormfly advised Agglo not to reveal that he had no human form.Stormfly talked to the blacksmith in his town to see if he had a tiger's eye. The blacksmith answered yes, and he understood why we wanted the gem as soon as he saw Aglo. The blacksmith told Aglo that "It was not necessary to use the beast form in the village" and demanded that he use his human form. Stormfly had to come up with an excuse to justify Aglo's beast form.In the end, the blacksmith gave the gem to the dragon in the form of a pendant. Aglo and Stormfly retired to a discreet place, where Aglo put on the pendant. At first he didn't feel anything, but after some concentration, the tiger's eye took on a red hue, and a flame emerged from his finger.Aglo continued testing and discovered more powers. In the end, he discovered powers of fire, ice, electricity, poison, light and darkness. Additionally, he discovered that he could manipulate energy and heal. This latest discovery was discouraging to Aglo because it means he could have attempted to cure Chiron. Stormfly comforts him.Aglo then realizes that he could stay there, since it is a place far away from Greece, but Stormfly tells him that it is not possible, because then, his people would eventually realize that he is not a shapeshifter and does not have a human form, so he would be disowned. This news is especially hard, basically because it is the same thing that happened to the gods in Greece. At Stormfly's inn, Aglo sleeps as best he can in a bed designed for humans. Its wings, tail and beak make resting somewhat difficult in that place. When he managed to fall asleep, he was awakened by a visitor. The god Apollo had found him.Aglo was upset for waking him up, for watching him from Olympus and for not telling him about his powers and reprimanded him, emphasizing the Tiger's Eye, necessary to control his powers. Apollo explained that there are other ways to control the elements, but he didn't have time to explain anything.Apollo told him about a safe place to live. Apollo told him that he should make a pilgrimage to where the sun dies, that that place will become a prosperous city to live in. Aglo didn't know what to think, but when he blinked, Apollo was gone. The next day, Aglo spoke to Stormfly about Apollo, including when he appeared at night. Stormfly knew what area he was talking about, but he had never visited it (Apollo talked about the Iberian Peninsula, present-day Spain and Portugal)In the end, Aglo must say goodbye to Tormentula to begin his journey to the place that Apollo mentioned to him, but not before thanking her immensely for helping him with his powers. Aglo left her his diamond armor, imbued with magical power, and then, he took flight.Chapter 4) Mediterranean lands
Aglo finds a village of Phoenicians. Because it is a notably less developed society than the Greek or Norse society at that time, Aglo is revered by the village and considered a divine being.
After displaying both his physical and magical abilities, some locals showed interest in magic, and Aglo tried to help those he could reach his magical potential, but many of them simply did not have it.A young boy did show magical potential and Aglo tried to teach him, but, by accident, in one of his lessons, the boy placed a curse on Aglo that left him in stasis (Aglo is frozen in time. He cannot take damage, nor move, it is unconscious. It is like a dream that cannot be disturbed)After many unsuccessful attempts to free him, the locals left Aglo where they could. In the largest cabin as a statue.Aglo, or rather, his unconscious body, witnessed for thousands of years the history of his region. The fall of the Phoenicians, the incorporation of their region into the Roman Empire, the fall of the Visigoth empire and reign, the Arab invasion, the reconquest... For more information, review the history of Spain (All cultures thought that Aglo was a particularly realistic sculpture, except the last one, the most modern)In the present day, 3000 years after he was temporarily frozen, Aglo wakes up in some kind of musseum lab underground. Extremly confused, he escapes pretty easily, as the security was kinda weak and faces a new world
